Community Education names December 2024 Anchored in the Laker Way award recipient
Community Education Service Kids’ Company Assistant Nick Poulos has been named the December 2024 recipient of the Anchored in the Laker Way Award. This monthly award celebrates Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools Community Education Services staff who are anchored in providing a strong foundation of community service, an innovative and supportive leader, a respectful team member, and committed to lifelong learning and excellence.
This is what a colleague said about Nick: “I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of Nick Poulos! Nick went above and beyond this week attending Wolf Ridge outside of school hours so that a student could attend. The student has diabetes and with Nick's support is thriving on the field trip. As you can imagine, having a complex medical condition creates feelings of isolation and embarrassment at school or at field trips like Wolf Ridge. With Nick's support, the student was excited to board the bus Monday morning and was empowered to manage his medical condition more independently.
Nick didn't hesitate when asked about attending the trip and learning about diabetes management. His willingness to step in and ensure the student's safety and well-being during this field trip demonstrates not only his professionalism but also his genuine care and dedication to our PLSAS students. His "can do" attitude is truly commendable and a testament to the values we strive to uphold!
