E-Learning Days

Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools (PLSAS) offers E-Learning Days to provide an opportunity for students to learn from home when our schools close due to weather. Our first inclement weather day of the school year will NOT be an E-Learning Day. The first school cancellation due to weather will remain a traditional cancellation as in the past. Should there be additional inclement weather days, an E-Learning Day will be called.

How E-Learning Days Work

  • E-Learning Days will be communicated through email, phone, website, social media and local TV stations.
  • Curriculum-aligned activities will be posted for students to access either through district-assigned devices or student/families’ personal devices/technology.
  • Activities can be completed online, through handwriting or other means to demonstrate learning objectives.
  • All students will have up to 5 days to turn in assignments, receive credit and verify attendance (provisions will be made for students with IEPs or 504 plans).
  • Parents/guardians will be asked to provide a note to the school in order for an absence to be considered excused.
  • Staff will provide guidance and feedback on class work through email (gr. K-5) and Schoology (gr. 6-12)
  • If a staff member is not available during E-Learning Days due to illness or a personal day, the teacher will communicate with the student/family within 24 hours of their return to work.

Grades K-5 Student & Staff Expectations

  • E-Learning Days will be communicated through email, phone, website, social media and local TV stations.

  • A choice board will be designed and sent home to families in the late fall.

  • An email will be sent to students and families by 9:00 a.m. on the day determined as an inclement weather day.

Grades 6-12 Student & Staff Expectations

  • E-Learning days will proceed in an asynchronous fashion, meaning students will not attend "live" digital class sessions.
  • Each class will have an asynchronous assignment posted to its Schoology page by 9:00 a.m. for PLHS and 8:00 a.m. for the middle schools.
  • Students will work at their own pace on assignments for the day.
  • Teachers will be available to answer questions via email and Schoology.

If you have questions or comments about E-Learning Days, please contact your building Principal.
