Application Process

• View vacancies and then complete online application
• Fully completed and submitted applications will be reviewed based on the needs of the school district and our selection criteria
• After review, selected candidates may be scheduled for the interview process by the hiring manager
• Final candidate will be invited to complete paperwork for new employment, including a background check

Prior Lake – Savage Area Schools is looking for reading and math tutors to give their time and talent to help kids achieve success.

Tutors serve during the school day working with small groups of students (grades K-3 for reading and grades 4-8 for math) who need extra help building their reading or math skills. No matter if you’re a recent grad, career changer, stay-at-home parent or retiree, you can make a great tutor!

No experience? No problem. Minnesota Reading Corp and Math Corps provide comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students learn, so tutors are well equipped to help students grow.

Perks of a Tutor

• Receive a stipend every two weeks
• Earn up to $4,441 for college tuition or student loans. Tutors 55 and older may gift the award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster

To ensure the safety of our students, we require criminal background checks on the following:

• Any volunteer who accompanies students off campus (i.e., chaperones for field trips).
• Any volunteer who is responsible for working with students on campus, but not under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

Volunteer background checks need to be done one time per year, either at the beginning of the school year or one calendar year from the last date of volunteer service. Volunteers may not begin or continue to volunteer until they have been cleared.

Background checks are $21 and are to be paid online by the volunteer. If the cost is a hardship, volunteers should contact their building principal directly.

Background checks take approximately 48 hours to be processed and cleared through the district. All information on the application will be maintained in a confidential manner. If there are any concerns regarding the results of a background check, the building principal will contact that individual directly after receiving the results.
