Superintendent Search

The Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools Board of Education is partnering with the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) to lead the search for a superintendent. This action follows the announcement by current Superintendent Dr. Michael Thomas, who shared in April that he has accepted the superintendent position with Hopkins Public Schools. His new role will begin July 1.

PLSAS School Board Selects Superintendent

At a special board meeting held June 15, 2026, the Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board voted to approve a contract with Dr. Jim Wagner as the district’s next superintendent. Dr. Wagner currently serves as the superintendent of Le Sueur-Henderson Public Schools.

“This is a pivotal moment for Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, and we are confident that Dr. Wagner is the right leader to guide us forward,” stated Amy Bullyan, school board chair. “As superintendent, Dr. Wagner will be a collaborative leader who listens, engages, and acts with integrity. We are eager to begin this new chapter together.”

“I am honored and humbled by this opportunity in Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools,” added Dr. Wagner. “The expectation is to continue the great work already happening and achieve even more for students, staff, and the community.”

Pending successful completion of a background check, the start date for Dr. Wagner will be July 1, 2026.
