Enrollment

Continuous Improvement: Enrollment and Demographics

Each year, we review district enrollment data to understand our student population and ensure our programs, staffing, and resources align with the needs of all learners. The following data illustrate the diversity, growth, and distribution of students across Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools.

Enrollment by School
PLSAS serves more than 9,000 students across eight elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and Bridges ALC, along with our Spanish immersion program, La ola del lago at Grainwood. The district’s largest sites—Prior Lake High School and Prior Lake-Savage Middle School—serve as anchors for our secondary programs, while each elementary school provides a strong foundation focused on academic and social-emotional growth.

Enrollment by Grade
Enrollment remains strong and steady across all grade levels, with the largest class sizes currently in grades 9–12. This consistency reflects stable enrollment trends and the community’s confidence in our schools from early learning through graduation. Early childhood and kindergarten enrollment also continue to grow as new families join the district.

Enrollment by Gender
Our district maintains a
balanced enrollment by gender, with nearly equal representation of male and female students. This balance supports our ongoing efforts to create inclusive environments and equitable access to learning opportunities for all students.

Enrollment by Ethnicity
PLSAS continues to serve a diverse student body, reflecting a growing and changing community. While the majority of students identify as White, increasing representation among Asian, Hispanic/Latino, Black or African American, and multiracial students highlights our commitment to cultural inclusivity and belonging across all schools.

Student Groups
Our schools support a variety of student needs and talents through targeted programming. Approximately 14% of students receive special education services, 9% participate in gifted education, and 4% receive English language development support. These programs ensure that every student receives the personalized instruction and resources they need to thrive.
